Joe Marler fined £20,000 and banned for two matches for Gypsy comment

Both Marler and Lee handled this case examplary and very mature. Too bad World Rugby had to intervene. The message I deduct from this saga: if you do something stupid, don't feel sorry and don't try to solve is as two adults. World Rugby will slap your ass with a big fine and a suspension anyway.

Silvère Tian red carded for insulting referee Romain Poite

The strange thing is that when the Honey Badger made the 'sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage' comment in a post game interview, everybody laughed their balls out of their pants. Seems like World Rugby is once again consistently inconsistent.

Just to be clear: I have no problem at all with that quote and I think Marler and Lee handled everything extremely well between themselves.

Looks like a classic case of roid rage. I would test him immediately. Zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour anyway.

Johnny Sexton blasted by fans and players for playacting

Meh...can't agree with you. At all. The only reason why Sexton did what he did was because he chose to do so. Surely he has been targeted the whole tournament and off course there might have been inconsistencies in refereeing. But that can neither be a reason nor justification for a) taking matters into your own hands or b) start playacting to get the referees attention. He's completely responsible for his own actions.

Tomas Francis only penalised but then cited for contact with Dan Cole's eyes

Sempere was supposedly convicted based on photographic evidence (which to be honest can look more damning than video) and bruises around the eyes of Ayerza. He got 15 weeks. Gabrillagues also got 8 weeks but pleaded guilty, whereas Sempere didn't.

Dan (below) suggests that everyone 'knows' France have a problem. Now I'm not sure that goes for all of France but it is quite extraordinairy that currently 3 players of the same club (Stade) have been suspended fot this kind of foul play. Back in 2009 there was Dupuy (also Stade) who was sentenced to 24 weeks and in 2010 Attoub (also Stade) got 70 weeks.

So statistically the average sentence is getting lower ;-)

Manu Tuilagi makes another two huge hits against Exeter Chiefs

I can see where you come from but I'm not sure Tuilagi could have done anything to avoid this. He comes in pretty low, Dollman also goes low and decides to step sideways at the very last moment. But then again, the tackler has a responsibility for the safety of the ball carrier. Long story short: glad noone was hurt.

Yellow Carded player winds up fans, soon becomes Red Carded player

Don't know if it was a second yellow or a straight red. But I have no problem with considering this an act contrary to good sportmanship.

One thing we can learn from wendyball is that it's just not smart to challenge a large, allready emotional crowd. I know rugby is a different sport with generally speaking a different kind of crowd. But I just would not like seeing this kind of behaviour creeping into our sport.

Besides, in South Africa there have been several incidents in which referees and supporters were assaulted after the game. So players winding up the public even more doesn't seem wise to me.

Chris Ashton reflects on his controversial 10-week ban for gouging

So, after this ban I wonder: if I hand someone off in the face (to my knowledge that´s still within the laws of the game) am I looking at a possible 10 week ban for making contact with the eye-area? Because this verdict basicly says: no matter what your intentions were, if you end up with your hand in the face you're looking at a lengthy ban.

In my opinion there is or should be a difference in 'going for the eyes' and 'ending up near the eyes'. The first option shows intent to gouge (zero tolerance), the second one is just an unfortunate turn of events.
