New Zealand second half too strong for courageous Argentina

No. The Argie fullback was a tackle assist. He had released the ball carrier and was retiring when Barrett initiated contact - he was simply tackled without the ball. No ruck had yet formed; a NZ player comes in (clearly from the side) a split second after Barrett tackles the Argie fullback without the ball, at which point there is a ruck (albeit illegally formed). .The defender coming across in cover drops in to fill that hole instead of pushing wide; the wide NZ attacker is therefore unmarked and strolls in. Clear penalty for mine. I'm not asserting that NZ do this more or less than anyone else - just that this is a clear example to me of a smart player illegally taking out an opposition defender to create a whole in the defence.

Jacques Burger lines up and nails Luke McAlister with textbook tackle

He drifted across field for half a dozen steps, which allowed Burger to line up McAllister. So the pass itself wasn't slow, but the drift was what set up McAllister - which is what Burger is referring to in his tweet.

All Blacks fined for waterboy Liam Messam joining on field scuffle

3rd man in is supposed to always be a red card, because it's what escalates everything, whether or not the "intent" is to "break it up". Liam Messam has no business being involved at all as the "waterboy". Thankfully the rest of the AB and Wallabies pitch side support crew aren't as moronic as him and didn't rush out onto the field as well in a baseball style dug out clearing.

If I was reffing your club match and you got involved as the waterboy, I would have you removed from the playing area and make a report to the club. Zero business being involved.

New Zealand hold onto Bledisloe Cup with punishing win over Australia

@whiteafrican. I did ref for quite a while. I was taught to, and did, penalize it whenever I saw it on the basis that it's presumably an attempt to collapse, and just generally dangerous play under 10.4(k). Even during the ELVs, which allowed collapsing a maul legally - by pulling it down - did not allow

Yes by lifting a leg - dangerous play and a potential yellow card offence.

Former All Black Jerry Collins tragically killed in car crash

So sad. Not many All Blacks who endear themselves to me - but you were a dead set legend, on my list of "blokes I'd love to have a beer with". I guess we'll have to do it after the big match in the sky. Doubly devastating is that I found out today that another legend of rugby passed away in an accident yesterday. Carl Maresca was a legend of New York rugby - an uncompromising prop forward and then referee who lived for the game, and was very generous with his time. His passing won't have the broad scale impact that JC's will on the rugby world, but it's important to recognize Carl and his contributions nonetheless. So to both you big fellas, Vale.

Reggie Goodes suspended as clean out badly injures Michael Allardice knee

I was responding to "In the end he should not of been suspended." This is right and wrong, for the reasons that I stated.
