England come from behind to beat Wales in opening Six Nations clash

I think May's tapping back of the high ball was a planned tactic, due to playing opposite 6'6 Cuthbert. And it worked, pretty much – Cuthbert didn't win a single cross-kick – so fair play as far as I'm concerned.

Not to say that I think May should be in the team though – Yarde or Wade are both better.

And yes, I loved Twelvetrees' little psycho cameo. Two turnovers in four and a half minutes is pretty good stuff.

Bloodied Brad Barritt happy to put body on the line in win over Wallabies

It would only be a repeat offence if it was an offence in the first place. But neither tackle was illegal. Had Barritt not wrapped his arms – had he tackled by butting the player, a la American Football – then it would be illegal, but there isn't the slightest indication of anything untoward.

I'm not saying it's good technique – I'm a go-for-the-legs man myself – but there's nothing to penalise in what he did.

Waratahs win Super Rugby title after nail-biting thriller with the Crusaders

It's definitely poor from Joubert. He clearly says, "You're not the tackler" to McCaw, which is nonsense.

Northampton Saints beat Saracens at the death in the Aviva Premiership Final

Side-note: I thought it was fascinating to see how the teams approached extra-time. The packs were both out on their feet, so for the first period it was mainly backs and kicking, and the penalties came because supporting players couldn't get to the breakdown quickly enough. However, when Northampton switched to pick-and-drive at the end. Saracens couldn't hold the gain-line (as they had done all match) and were taken back, and back, and back.

Bearing in mind extra-time may come into play at the World Cup, I thought that was interesting to see.

England avenge Cardiff loss with convincing victory over Wales at Twickenham

Selecting Priestland confuses the heck out of me: thoroughly thoroughly average, in pretty much every department. I think we can all assume that James Hook doesn't fit into Gatland's model (ie. he has too many ideas of his own), but it's a shame that such natural talent is being wasted. Ditto Henson (ooh, controversial!).

I'm not a Phillips fan - at all - but nevertheless it was always going to be a big ask for Webb to turn up at Twickenham behind a pressurised pack and look the part.

The other surprising thing for me about Wales on Sunday is that they looked heavily fatigued - gasping - from an early stage. The length of time taken for each lineout was indicative. Two or three years ago, stamina was one of a strong team's strongest points.
