Jebb Sinclair controversially red carded for 'leading with the elbow'

'Wow', he says as he leaves the field. I'm inclined to agree.

Looked to me like he braced himself for contact, nothing more.

Adriaan Strauss suspended for three weeks after tip tackle

Worse than Bastereaud's hit from the weekend but not by a whole lot.

I guess the theory is that while this tackle in itself wasn't inherently dangerous, these types of situations can be 'potentially' dangerous if the player exercises less control than the examples we've seen from the weekend.

Salesi Ma'afu banned for one week for punch on Tom Youngs that went viral

Check this one out. A lot of similarities with McKinnon's tackle, thankfully not the same result. These ones happen in union as well as league.

Glasgow Warriors upset Munster then Leinster edge Ulster in tense PRO12 Semis

I disagree. The scuffle was over by the time the forwards powered it over the line; there's no reasonable way to conclude that Dunbar as an outside back would have prevented it. Anyone one who's watched any NRL this season will be aware of how detrimental over zealous obstruction rulings can be to a game.

Digby Ioane manhandles Bryan Habana in tense Top 14 clash

10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player's feet are still off the ground such that the player's head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.

Take from that what you will but for my money, Ioane didn't drop or drive Habana.

I agree on the other two counts as well, looked like a textbook dump tackle and a bit of handbags, respectively.

Carlin Isles dropped ball blooper ruins great fifteens debut try

I might be wrong but downward pressure (with ball in hand) seems to be a phrase that has come over from league, much like the term "double movement" and should be disregarded.

In this case, assuming the ball did not go forward, it's down to 22.1 b) and the player is require to "press down" on the ball in goal.

Carlin Isles dropped ball blooper ruins great fifteens debut try

Pretty sure that underage has no bearing on full international. Struggled to find an example until I came across Sean Maitland's Wiki page. Richardt Strauss is another one.

Brilliant individual effort decides Crusaders vs Hurricanes classic in Christchurch

For the first try, did I hear the ref tell the TMO, "You'll have to give me a decision, I was 150m away"? A bit of an exaggeration surely!

Ireland and O'Driscoll celebrate 2014 Six Nations victory in Paris

I thought Swareski's (sp?) was borderline but I'd allow it; he appeared to have fingertips on the ball from when he picked until he placed it on the ground and slid it forward and contacted the post. I've seen knock-ons given in general play for similar things but it's definitely up for debate.

A lot of parallels with this and Jessie Mogg's try at the weekend in Canberra.
