Clermont flanker Viktor Kolelishvili shoves referee Wayne Barnes

I disagree completely. We have a TV audience that cascades to grassroots - everyone has now seen the player unnecessarily manhandle an official and stay on the pitch ! wtf. ........Wayne has done ALL grassroots referees a dis-service with his overly mild handling.

Alesana Tuilagi banned for 5 weeks for 'kneeing' Japanese tackler

fell off my chair chuckling ....... as if.

Michael Hooper cited for this dangerous cleanout on Mike Brown

We've seen Red Cards issued for the same offence in S15.

IMO 'sir' let us down on this decision, it wasn't difficult & it was way beyond 'unclear' & 'unobvious', a potential momentum changing error by RP !

FWIW Wallabies were well worth the victory, & my pre-tourno £20 @ 8.5 - 1 on them looks decent value.

Alesana Tuilagi banned for 5 weeks for 'kneeing' Japanese tackler

AT is difficult enough to stop without accelerating a knee into an opponent as he attempts to tackle.

At least the JO have shown some backbone, its a disguised cheap shot, & and another unnecessary concussion risk, the game is tough enough without this, well done DisciPanel.

Josh Valentine knocked out by brutal upright tackle from Taiasina Tuifua

The Onus is on the tackler to tackle legally and not high, furthermore WR has decreed that tackles that start legal and end up through the throat/neck/head ARE illegal.

Union has been infected with the RL higher tackling style, and the rise of lifetime concussion problems is another reason why these should be harshly removed from the game.

The tough lads will wrongly cry 'part of the game' , those with an eye on the protection of participants will join me in condemning the high head battering ram assault that masquerades as a tackle.

I don't want my son receiving a head smash in the face , tackles need to END/FINISH/COMPLETE lower than this one.

RED card citing 'should' follow, if the sport is serious about protecting players IMO.

Northland prop Matt Talaese red carded and banned for full time charge

45678 Its not a worrying precedent at all, quite the contrary.

WR has responded to the epidemic rise in concussions by taking a firm stance against players committing these cheap shot 'dangerous' actions.

Law 16.2[b]
A player joining a ruck must bind on a team-mate or an opponent, using the whole arm. The bind must either precede, or be simultaneous with, contact with any other part of the body of the player joining the ruck.

The game has for too long turned a blind eye to what we saw, players need to wise up & it's not contrary to their interests it's "in their interests"

Well done that referee, I hope Rugby World Cup also sees this robustly dealt with, for the good of the game.

Mammoth tackle as two giant Polish forwards meet in Cup Final

Another huge smash, another injured player .....skill/craft/guile/evasive cunning replaced in the pro game by smash/crash/crunch/break . Union lawmakers are culpable for continuing to drift towards RL, it may eventually settle looking more like MMA ! zzzzzzz

Craig Joubert carding Jacques Potgieter riles commentator Phil Kearns

Conceptually? Can a commentator bring his station into disrepute ?

If not then punditry is a 'license' to spout off this way.

Henry Speight banned for five weeks for dangerous flip on Juan de Jongh

" need for a deterrent for dangerous play such as this which carries with it the real risk of serious injury."

I'm wondering what needed to be worse to qualify this as a Mid Entry or Top End Offence ?
Broken neck, C3/4/5/6 dislodged" ........ paralysis ?????

Low Entry point, hardly sends the toughest of deterrents for these coached in WWF/judoesque throws.

Missed opportunity to send the game message.

Japie Mulder's perfect tackle on Jonah Lomu in the 1995 Rugby World Cup Final

Anyone who's ever played the game will understand exactly why SA needed it. I'd argue that even if it had been penalised SA needed to make the 'statement' of intent in this way.

My faded memory was of Andrews & co arriving late at each contact with JL and getting a cheap shot dig in! , it might be my old age but that certainly my perception at the time, albeit it might merely be a myth created by warm memory. :)
