After just one season, the future of PRO Rugby in the USA is uncertain

This is a shame. Even though the business side of the league was mismanaged, the product was actually good and games were very entertaining to watch. The league did well to get the best players in USA amateur rugby, filling squads with Eagles, college All-Americans and a handful of capped international legends.

I really hope USA Rugby can get something akin to this going again. With a proper business model, pro rugby in the US will flourish.

Double tackle KO of Geoff Parling leads to a red card and citings

We had our first match last weekend with the new rules, and it was a mess. Referee must have called at least a dozen penalties for high tackles. I think offensive players, especially forwards on the crash ball, will be exploiting these new directives and leading low with their heads. It happens so quickly that most of the time the defense is making accidental contact with the ball carrier's head. Everyone is going to have to adapt quickly to this.

USA Women's winger Naya Tapper banned for alleged kick

If a teammate on his way off the pitch came to high five me on the way out, I'd look him straight in the eye and tell him to put that hand down and get the f*ck off the field.

USA Women's winger Naya Tapper banned for alleged kick

First kick to #6 seemed accidental. She couldn't have known her face was right where her heel was going to hit. The second kick to #15 was intentional. New rugby players (which she clearly is to me, as I'll outline below) tend to flail their legs around when they're tackled. And sometimes these flailing legs make contact with faces (often times their own teammates coming in to ruck). I've had to tell many new players to NOT flail their legs when they're on the ground. Yellow card is the right call. The weekend ban seems harsh.

And how I know she's new? Well one, the captain has to tell her where to go for the sin bin. But even funnier, she goes to shake all her teammates hands before she leaves the field. I would never shake my teammates hand before they leave the field with a yellow card (except for a professional foul or referee error), especially for a needless yellow like this one!

Digby Ioane manhandles Bryan Habana in tense Top 14 clash

Nothing wrong with the first hit. I can't stand when the commentators complain about a non-call. GET ON WITH IT.

The second hit, however, is quite dangerous. You can't go lifting people off the ground. There was no reason Ioane has to lift him. That drop could have been much, much more dangerous. Deserves the yellow surely.

Fabrice Estebanez knockout hit on David Strettle

Estebanez committed the first illegal hit as well. At :03 he shoulder charges one of the Saracens players.

Dirty hit, he deserves a couple week ban.
