Ruan Pienaar's controversial stalling asks questions about the spirit of the law

You can say stop the clock, but then why not stop it between scrums and lineouts? Where does that line get drawn between plays?

He's got 90 seconds, and is free to use almost every inch of it to make sure he slots the kick that puts them up by one to potentially win the game. Then he's free to use a few more half inches to make sure there's very little time left for the other team to come back and score.

Sure, it's more than he needed, but it's his risk to take himself out of that setup rhythm for what is generally an easy kick.

After all that he slotted it even when there was an early charge down just prior. Cool as a cucumber.

Joe Marler and TJ Ioane both suspended after double altercation

I can understand a little of Ioane was upset after a frankly terrible attempt at a tackle by the other Harlequins player just before Marler bright him down, but if he thought that was Marler's fault then he was mistaken. Of course, Marler was just as poor in his decision making to take revenge and they both deserved the result.

Polish skipper launches opposition flyhalf with devastating charge

Serves him right for going into a tackle like that.

Joe Marler fined £20,000 and banned for two matches for Gypsy comment

I could see them handing down a bit of a paper ban to help recognize it was in the wrong but also that they'd pretty well handled things as adults between both players since but why is this the most ever fined for a racist remark? I'm sure there have been worse things (or at least things with more intent behind them) said on a rugby pitch and even caught on a referee's microphone but this gets the highest fine ever?

Barnstorming Pierre Spies run sets up Bismarck du Plessis try

A big man with that much mobility waiting 30m downfield to counter against you if you kick is a very scary thing.

Ma'a Nonu cited for massive no-arms hit on Grenoble scrumhalf

He does wrap with the right arm, but the front view on camera with the left arm not wrapping (combined with the massiveness of the hit) looks really bad. I've seen those half wraps get away in the past so I'd be a little surprised if he gets much on top of the yellow card.

Toulouse miss out on win due to casual conversion from directly in front

I actually don't have much of a problem with the other players not having retreated on either side of the posts since they weren't actively impeding the kick and Bevy chose to rush the kick rather than take his time to ensure he converted it. The question is around the chargers, where at least one of them had their foot over the line before Bezy starts his run up.

Letter of the law, it's a retake. I even think the ref should have allowed a retake considering his discretion.

But Bezy... It was a terrible kick (looked almost too low to clear the bar anyway!) and no reason to not give yourself the time and space to put it over proper.

A Look at the First Ever NINE Point Try in Rugby

Honestly too much variation for me. The ref has to decide during play not only where the try started from but if the ball changed possession at all (e.g. some rucks get very cloudy on the subject).

Quade Cooper signs on to join Australia Sevens program for 2016 Olympic Games

As much as you want to watch the best players, I feel like this is just the best teams stacking their rosters. It does nothing to help the second tier teams who've had to enlist 15s players because they have no one else and the competition gap will widen. It'll end up being a 3-4 team competition at this rate, and the great pressure we see from teams like Kenya, Japan, Canada and others on the regular top squads just won't be there.

If it weren't the Olympics none of these players would be playing regularly, so why do it just for this? It certainly won't help grow the game.
