Chris Ashton shouts 'push it' as Nick Evans attempts conversion kick

You're allowed to block a conversion. I've seen it happen more than twice.

Salesi Ma'afu banned for one week for punch on Tom Youngs that went viral

I understand where you're coming from. No I'm not a fan of having people dropped upon their heads. I do think that the way that the rule is administered is very problematic. Many times in rugby players land or collide awkwardly and unless the offender is malicious I think the "you lifted in a tackle=straight red" isn't great for the game. Actually I believe unless there is something extremely heinous all players should stay on the field and cards have hurt the game in total.

For instance that Sam Warburton tackle from the WC I thought was fair.

You realize that "tip tackling" was not illegal until very recently? It wasn't even considered unsporting or as dangerous as a high tackle. As a matter of fact just 10 years ago my coach admonished me for getting put on my back for running too high.

I'm not making light of anyone's injury. I am trying to give some historical context. For most of the history of rugby union and RL if you could pick up a ball carrier and drive them backwards it was considered a great tackle. I'm not saying it was safe, but the crowd went wild.

The idea that putting somebody horizontal at tackle (or even punching someone) is somehow a super bad thing to do is new to the sport.

Northampton Saints and Saracens to meet in Aviva Premiership Final

Depth I guess? Revolving door coaching? It seems that the Scottish forwards are usually better than their backs. I'm ready for Scotland to be good again!

Northampton Saints and Saracens to meet in Aviva Premiership Final

Exactly. Look, shaking hands with the opposition after a game is not in the law book, but if someone would refuse to do so then that "crime" in my opinion shows a lack of respect to the game which is worse than any off ball issue. Same thing goes for the treatment of the referee.

Rugby union has a code and it's not the same thing as the Laws.

Buddy, you're 100% right.

Ashton yelling at a kicker taking a conversion is more troublesome and objectionable to me than any "tip tackle". What a horrible example for young players watching the game.

Cards and the removal of players from the field is really changing the outcome of all big games. It's one of the biggest factors in the result and shouldn't be so.

135kg Schoolboy Prop Taniela Tupou scores Hat-trick

These are the guys I like!

Rugby has taught me many lessons, one of the foremost is that great athletes come in all shapes and sizes. I like the big props, short halfbacks, and slight wingers.

Digby Ioane manhandles Bryan Habana in tense Top 14 clash

The Georgian guy is guilty of a bad attitude, nothing more. A quick talking to the ref would have been enough. Why are you so keen on taking guys off the field for niggling stuff like this?

Digby Ioane manhandles Bryan Habana in tense Top 14 clash

Exactly!
Habana goes into contact with his shoulders lower than his hips, which is unsafe and not a great way to play rugby. Ioane does pick him up but does not drive him into the ground or drop him. What is a guy to do?

Tom Court shown straight red card for tip tackle on Devin Toner

The game made it for about 180 years without cards and was better off. It's just a whole can of worms with major inconsistencies applied and too much power in the hands of a referee. Red cards ruin more games than foul play ever did. The cure is worse than the disease.
