That's a joke, right? You seem to think that a captain's main function is to not commit penalties, since that would make him "somewhat of a cheat" and therefore insufficiently "deontonlogical". (I'll admit, I had to look that one up.)
Whatever you think of McCaw's breakdown work, he certainly leads by example and clearly inspires the guys around him. He's one of the greatest captains the ABs have ever had, arguably the greatest. 76 starts as captain, 67 wins, 8 losses, 1 draw, nearly 89% win rate.

Heartbreaking, thanks for posting this tribute. These men, brothers, sons, fathers, died trying to help each other. No surprise that Nevin was such a bright light in the rugby community as he embodied the character that we all wish to have, both on and off the pitch. Sacrifice, humility, hard work, community. RIP.

A bit oversensitive here. Clearly you're an Argentina fan who knows the players names, but you can't expect every other fan to know your players, especially when they've probably only seen them once or twice in the last several years. Tell me, do YOU know who played 22 for Australia?

I don't think that NZ has ever thought that games against SA were "in the bag." Are you talking about just this year? Young team or not, SA is always a tough match for the All Blacks.

Where exactly was the "spear tackle"?

Sorry to extend the American FB and rugby comparison, but I think this article has some useful context.
Focused on the primary scientist studying concussion effects, what I gleaned from it is how the cumulative effects of sub-concussive hits can actually be far worse than the occasional bell ringer. Anyway, I agree that they are different sports (with its blocking on every play, american FB has lots of these sub-concussive hits whereas rugby tends to have more continuous contact but no blocking) but a concussion is a concussion and research on the effects is bound to be valuable for both sports.

"i love bacon" has it right; not sure why there's much confusion. O'Connor himself said that it's happened to him before, so there's something in the little hitch he does with his feet that makes it appear that he's starting his kick. We can't see his feet in the clip, but it's obvious O'Connor knew what caused it. The referee sure isn't going to make a stink about it in a match like this.
Loved it, pretty funny stuff.

Yeah, one or two drunken idiots booing doesn't mean people were happy to see Cooper hurt. The Kiwis probably took Cooper's abuse a bit too far, but he was plenty willing to accept the role of Public Enemy. Kiwis know he's a hell of a player and gave him a respectful applause when he was taken off.
