Classic Encounters - Montpellier vs Racing Metro on New Year's Eve

incredible stuff, so fast and accurate (esp for 15 min clip) weather looked v good too, which probably helped.

Somehow, that was almost like league...is supposed to be! I'm sure in reality there was plenty of trad forward play, but it seemed v league like....

Luke McAlister's big charge through Nick Evans in the Heineken Cup

i suppose after all the nascewa-hipkiss comments, this is bound to be seen as a yellow and shoulder charge? I can see why ppl complain that some of these front on collisions are harmless enough when compared to spears etc....

as an aside, those anglo-saxon surnames ain't half sidewayz on occasion (hipkiss to twelvetress....)

Stephen Ferris scores a powerful try against the Scarlets

@besthookertown: The irish provinces are starting to bring people through now in the 2nd and back rows, tfb. Its up to the international team to start playing them.
@huh - has SOB been tried at 8 ? Or is it just that you reckon his style would suit it?

Alesana Tuilagi and Tom Wood red carded following touchline brawl

From the rfu link above:
"Ashton, 24, was found guilty of pulling Alesana Tuilagi by his hair and dragging him from the field of play .....The Saints wing, who denied the offence...."
denied the offence? He was accused of x and he _denied_ doing it?!?
That's a bit silly, and probably added to his ban. (read rest of info at link before u start going on about the rules btw...)

Stephen Ferris scores a powerful try against the Scarlets

immaturity finds many ways stubby, but there's always hope!

Well taken score, great to see that mobility and strength - bad ball to start with!

Pity both himself and Sean O Brien cover 6 eh?

Alesana Tuilagi and Tom Wood red carded following touchline brawl

perhaps understandably, Tuilagi does immediately go for ashton. He tries to punch him, succeeds with the first one (punch into ribs, stomach area), mostly fails with the second, and after that its a melee. Tuiligi's intention to lay into Ashton is a serious part of it from the ref's perspective. he obviously just wanted to teach players a lesson, and didn't think yellow would do it. Maybe he was right in this regard? However Ashton did get away scott free, which is a pity - petty move on his part.

Commentator Michael Corcoran the Cookie Munster

@Huh - I suppose radio commentators are usually more 'urgent' and engaged as they have to paint a picture so to speak. The lack of passion in TV commentators is really annoying, and often complained about, quite rightly. (Thou the Auzzies do seem to get it right on TV)

Corky just gets in there and hits top gear v early on - thou I hadn't heard his overdrive gear before, as the cookie monster!

Personally, I prefer the urgency over the laconic - with Corky, its as if the team are always on the tryline, even when they are on their own 22...

Peter Stringer commits daylight robbery on James O'Connor

absolutely perfect. That's a wily old fox, eh? One who should be playing somewhere! What is the story with him still at Munster and only 3rd choice, based on age not ability?

Wallabies crush the Barbarians in Matfield's farewell game

Here is the Stringer clip. Brilliant! showed the young lad a thing eh?
always clever - he so should be playing somewhere at the mo! 3rd choice in Munster based it seems on age not talent. Will surely be snapped up soon?
