Richie McCaw knee on Morgan Parra, Donald kick, Rougerie eye-gouge, and more

The Donald kick is in, the knee looks uninentional but also lacks any form of restraint (a hardened version of Courtney Lawes' knee earlier in the tournament), the Rougerie eye-gouge allegation looks like Rougerie trys to grab MacCaw's face at any cost (nose, ear, eyes too?) to hurt him for being in the wrong place, Joubert's refereeing was not pro-NZ it was just Southern Hemisphere (let's not blow the whistle so that the game looks nicer), the fine for France is ridiculous, and allegations of Rugbydump being partial are idiotic.
This is just my opinion ...

What I see is Rougerie grabbing to the face to rip McCaw's nose or ear off or pinch him or hurt him one way or another. For being in the wrong place repeatedly and playing the ball on the ground ... as you know some players tend to try to do justice themselves when the referee isn't calling penalties on serial cheaters like McCaw. But maybe that's the eye region, in which case Rougerie needs a LENGTHY ban. Anyhow it's definitely not Dusautoir.

The lesson to learn here is don't try to do justice yourself, or if you're going to do it, then do it properly, when the referee and the cameras aren't looking (a good knee to MacCaw's groin would just about do it for his lifetime accomplishments in the ruck area).

nb: I respect a lot of AB players, but MacCaw just doesn't cut it. Maybe Rougerie needs to be out of my respect list too.

If McCaw is a great guy, he'll respond to the latest NZ Herald claim of eye-gouging by Dusautoir, intervening to say that it's utter bullshit. If not, then he's really just a big pile of steaming crock.

All Blacks win the 2011 Rugby World Cup - France challenge the Haka

Well my comment isn't supposed to appear way down over here in response to a fine message by yawn. Maybe I just can't get anywhere close to Pato's comment (which I originally responded to), being blocked by the halfway line and all ...

All Blacks win the 2011 Rugby World Cup - France challenge the Haka

There are so many wrongs in your message that I wouldn't know where to start. I also play rugby here in France and in my club a scant few people have a big mouth.
Also, rugby referees have been blamed for everything since the late 19th century. The IRB was invented back then (1886) precisely to start getting people to agree on the reffing ...
"Showoffs" is not a generally used description of the French, normally we are called "pretentious" or "lazy socialists".
As for the alleged "girlie nature" of the French team's response to the Haka, I'm starting to think that was precisely their intent. As in "oh what a nice war dance, here let's hold hands while we watch it ...".

All Blacks win the 2011 Rugby World Cup - France challenge the Haka

A truly fitting final for an otherwise not so awesome world cup. Kudos for NZ for being such an awesome country and such a hospitable nation for the tournament, but I've had my share of deception with some details about this cup (minnow pool games etc).
NZ deserve the victory for their overall rugby achievements from 2007 to 2011, but I'm more focused on being proud that France played with determination and did not lift their foot off the pedal as they often do, just to set a few wrongs right.
The Haka response was cool, though it would have been better had they not held hands. Very cool when they overstepped the halfway line, knowing it would cost them (10,000 pounds sterling I hear).
Kaino, Carter, Weepu, Read, the Franks brothers, Muliana ... there are a lot of great guys in the AB team (although I have to admit I don't have much admiration for McCaw's style of rucking from the side - but I admire his incredible athleticism and good off-the-field behaviour).
It'll be sad to see Harinordoquy and Bonnaire and maybe even Dusautoir go, but each generation has its stars so France will be back, and if stats don't lie then they should be in the semis at least next time around :)

Rugby World Cup Daily - France to wear white as Craig Joubert gets final

France to win by 2 points or lose by 35 points. The first 20 minutes or so will define the rest of the game.

And welcome to rugby, a courteous sport. Hear that french dude?? If you're tired of being insulted and treated pedantically, then go play tennis!

Sam Warburton red card in Rugby World Cup Semi Final

As a French supporter, I must say that there is nothing glorious about this French victory. I watched the game with a fellow supporter and we sort of felt bummed out at the end. There was no joy to be found in seeing the Welsh lose this way... no cars honking in Toulouse afterwards (normally the town goes beserk in important Heineken Cup victories).
I would have said yellow card, but I wasn't up close like Rolland, and all we get to see in video close ups is a slow-motion view which doesn't do much justice to the action.
Even one man down, Wales had the game for the taking, it's a pity they didn't do just that. But playing one man down is so tiring, you can't blame them either ...
France should theoretically start playing rugby in the final (we're still waiting for them to wake up). Let's hope for the ABs or Aussies that it won't be on the day.

@Cheesekiwi: there is nothing wrong in the French team's reaction, forwards protect their buddies from the back, this is what everyone does, in every country, in every team. You don't let someone on your team get upended (however slightly you think it is) and dropped without at least some reaction, do you?
