Luke Charteris and Pascal Pape shown yellow cards for Top 14 fight

It's a pity not all of you understand what the commentators are saying, because during the slow motion replay, one of them says "ahh, nice punch by Charteris, ohh and wonderful uppercut by Pape, it's one all so far on the scoreboard - aww!! and what was that? a hit by behind? that's just wrong!". Then the second commentator chips in and says "I think Charteris' punch wasn't so great after all, because (when I used to play) I knew a few Welsh forwards who would land a real punch from which you wouldn't get up".
The TOP 14 on French TV sometimes ressembles a boxing match with comments.

Luke Charteris and Pascal Pape shown yellow cards for Top 14 fight

Sorry but I'll have to disagree (I've finally got a cause for disagreement with stroudos!), Pape may be a gentleman off the pitch (just as Bakkies Botha is), but on the pitch he's absolutely and horribly agressive - although he's not known to land cheap shots but rather to look for trouble. When he's named captain of the Stade Fran├žais or of the French XV, it's when both teams need to up their ante in the agressive guerrilla rugby fighter department.

The All Blacks remain undefeated with Dunedin win over the Springboks

Agreed, Greyling enters the field as a replacement ... and immediately costs the Boks 3 points. A bit later, he gets sent off with a yellow. Back on the field, he knocks the ball in a lineout that the Boks steal from the Blacks 5m from the Blacks' try line. Just after that, he costs his team another 3 points. I was thinking to myself that he was either very dumb, very young, or very corrupt. Probably a combination of the first two?

Top 14 Round Four - Best of the weekend wrap-up

@CHamp
What's to hate about any pro rugby club?
What's more, Munster and Leinster don't have to compete as much for HC playoffs in their championship (3 Irish teams are qualified out of 4 present = 75%, compared to 6 out of 14 in France = 43% ... in their championship, they can rest a player nearly any time they want), and they also don't have to worry about relegation. This makes it somewhat less difficult for them to be competitive on the long run - which English and French clubs find harder.
It's about endurance, at the end of the day.

Best Tries of the Top 14 - Round 3 - 2012

You'll notice that these are the subjective "ten best" of each round, meaning out of 7 matches. 10 tries in 7 matches obviously means that they are not going to be mind-blowing. I suppose that in the Super15, either:
- only great tries are scored
- so many tries are scored that "space fillers" are common

Eben Etzebeth banned for attempted headbutt on Nathan Sharpe

I'll be the first to agree that players in general should know better than to get into fights, given the amount of cameras around, and given that it takes their focus away from their game. In fact I really dislike it when some players keep on fighting while play goes on.

But I don't see why shoving/grappling in a virile manner, or shoulderbutting in rucks should be considered "less condemnable" than pretending to give a headbutt.

Perhaps the IRB needs to hire a few precogs to stop headbutts before they occur, to nip any form of intent in the bud.
Or perhaps it's time for a "Real IRB" split from the mainstream? Because the more they'll punish this type of offence, and the more diving we're going to get.
