Crowd favourite Nick Cummins bags a hat-trick as Force upset Waratahs

Nice selection of highlights RD, good to see the missed opportunities and big hits, as well as the infringements that lead to the penalty shots. And the meat pies too, of course.

Fair dinkum, Nick Cummins seems like a bloody good bloke.

Jared Payne banned for two weeks after red card challenge on Alex Goode

If Payne (a full back) thought he could just catch the ball without jumping and/or a contest then he's a fool. Where did he think his opposite number was likely to be?!?! IMO it's a reckless collision, but intent or no, it's still Payne's (and everyone's) responsibility to take more care in scenarios like this.

He should've kept in line with his other chasers!!!

Georgia and Romania Rugby World Cup 2015 qualification highlights

As much as I love the 6N and the ritualistic annual renewal of rivalries, I'm still interested in seeing other international teams play more regularly. The like of Georgia, Russia and Romania should get a game against one of the 6N sides each year so they can improve. This can only benefit rugby.

I don't think it's disrespectful to suggest that a lower placed team should have to prove itself against the cream of the crop in the second tier of Europe, though I don't think this should be done in a 6N relegation context. Adding these nations to the Summer/Autumn schedule is important, and perhaps even hosting a European Cup every 4 years could work too.

One of the reasons I love watching the IRB 7s world series is the increase in international teams that compete at a decent level (e.g. Kenya and even a team like Portugal). The deeper the pool of possible fixtures, the more interesting international rugby becomes.

Teams need to work in tour fixtures against other opposition too (e.g. England playing the ConCaf XV in the Summer)

France ease past Italy with comfortable win at the Stade de France

This match has drawn me towards two conclusions; France can win this tournament if they can work out how to put in a full 80 minute performance, and Italy should be favourites to beat Scotland next time out.

I thought the Azzurri actually played well enough for the score to be closer, but lacked the star power and cutting edge to turn their territory into points. Garcia looked weak in the centre and Allen didn't play well, but the pack worked very hard (the prop was awesome), and the wingers looked alright. Orquera should start as he kicked an excellent conversion and ran hard at the line to get his runners going once he came on.

One last point, Parisse isn't what he once was.

The Top 10 Tries in South African Rugby in 2013

I'd have to give it to Aplon out of that lot, mesmeric hip movement to break the line and then again to tie the full back up in knots. Quite liked the Sharks first phase try too - excellent chip, deft pass and great gas.

What more could you want?

New Ireland prop Rodney Ah You smashes lock Alistair Hargreaves

Part of me thinks that anyone who wants to commit themselves to play for another country and qualifies correctly then good luck to them. And yet when done on residency grounds I cant help but feel like someone that's coming through the youth ranks has missed out.

Great hit nevertheless.

Nick Wood red carded after 73 seconds for stamp on Jacques Burger

I love the physicality of rugby but this is just thuggery. I don't buy the whole 'clumsy' line for one second and although he perhaps didn't 100% mean to stamp on his head, you can bet he didn't care what part of Burger's body fell beneath him - he wanted to make an impact regardless.

I suspect the Horwill defence might be deployed, but he should be a man and take a ban.

Ronan O'Mahony back heel flick sets up try for James Coughlan vs Edinburgh

Well, he definitely didn't mean for that to happen, just tried to get something on the ball as it stuck under him. Doesn't come close to Zebo's tekkers.

Two Argentina players cited after eye-gouge and biting claims in Mendoza

Hard to see exactly what went on so i wouldn't expect long bans to be imposed. Argies lost their cool in the last twenty where so many test matches are won or lost and it played straight into SA hands.

Discipline is everything!
