Rugby Tactics: The Sexton Loop

If you watch the video above from about 24:45 you will see beautifully how Sexton looping around can actually be used as the decoy runner to set up inside balls to the guys running straight lines...

Toulon set for yet another final following tense victory over Leinster

Wayne barnes just continues to baffle me as a referee...

Botha should ahve been carded for a cycnical when he killed the ball as lenster were in absolutely amazing position to launch a counter attack from a bad Toulon clearing kick...Suto should have been yellow/red carded for his choke hold..he missed numerous scrum infringments by leinster and toulon and then he goes and yellow cards Ali Williams for a nothing challenge as he went to catch the ball in the air...

he is so inconsistent from game to game and within games its just infuriating to watch when you add in the bad calls which he makes far too often for a ref at this level...Just golook back to the Ire Welsh game, then take a look at this game..His interpretation of the breakdown was completely different? i'm not giving out about either interpretation since the IRB refuse to state clearly how a ref should manage that aspect of the game, but at least stick to one...

On the game itself it was very exciting and in the end was decided by a mistake as many tight knockout games are..Madigan was poor enough for leinster, especially if he hopes to cement his spot as the irish number 2 (personally prefer keatley)...Michilak wa also poor but Toulon could take him off before he lost them the game..

That match would have been won long before extra time if either team had had a ten who could stamp his authority in the match...

I reckon Clermont will beat Toulon, an in fairness they're long overdue some european silverware

How will the Six Nations stars fare at RWC 2015? Conor O'Shea goes through them

He's certainly right about Parra...He is an awesome SH and he makes France tick..When he is in the groove France are a different animal altogether! If I was a french fan i would like to see Rougerie back in the set up too!

Get Excited For The Rugby World Cup, Less Than Six Months To Go

It really was one of the worst performances by a referee i've ever witnessed, especially given the stage that happened at....

Wales dash Ireland's Grand Slams hopes in epic Cardiff battle

That flick is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about and personally i feel he's been living off that flick for the past number of years, because i cant really remember any superb performances by him in an ireland jersey..he was good was england two weeks ago, but he wasn't amazing..Not saying Zebo has been palying bad, just nothing standing out to me from most of his performances...I feel if we are going to stick to the physical game then we need to get Trimble back asap..but as i said before i think we need to try the likes of earls and fitzgerald and gilroy in there to try and open up some space

Wales dash Ireland's Grand Slams hopes in epic Cardiff battle

As usual barnes made the game all about himeself and made some baffling decisions...In the end they ended up costing ireland although he wasn't particualarly favouring eitehr side..The biggest calls just seemed to go in wales' favour, particularly that last collapsed maul and the scrum won against the head..I've no particular problem with how he reffed the breakdown because he made it clear from the outset how he wanted it..however eh has to acknowledge when the team going forward are holding on at ruck time..he literally made it into a no contest zone

Wales put in a huge shift in defence and as I mentioned after the Enlgand match ireland are going to have to start picking players who are that bit more creative for when "joe-ball" isn't working..I believe i also picked wales out as one of the teams that the kicking game would be difficult to execute against ;) Unfortunately now we have no real competitive matches left before the world cup once this six nations is over meaning this is probably going to be the same backline which starts @ WC

To be honest I dont think zebo offers that much for ireland.he has moments of good but far too many games he is average. Not saying he's playing bad but for a winger he's simply not creating enough..That is also due to payne too imo who is also not creative enough with ball in hand..He's great for a power game, but that will only get you so far against the likes of jamie Roberts and george north etc...

Would really like to see schmidt try and get them playing with a bit more flair with ball in hand, and on that note I would like to see Gilroy, Fitzgerald and Earls become more involved in the starting line ups...That game was there for the taking by ireland but they simply weren't good enough in the backs..It's also very disconcerting how many times ireland ahve knocked on good ball...So many little offloads and pop passes have not gone to hand menaing that any momentum we do make is often nullified through our own mistakes

Ireland stay on track with victory over England in Dublin

On irish creativity i wouldn't mind seeing the likes of earls, marshall, and gilroy given some game time..while we are playing and winning well right now..We are going to have to develop a more creative game when we come up against teams who are well prepared and well able ot handle the high ball (I'm thinking, wales, NZ and South Africa in particular)...Earls and Gilroy in particular are in good form for their clubs and probably offer a bit more in terms of stepping and creating space than some of our current starters, and with so little games left between now and the world cup my only worry is that we might become a little too one dimensional..

This isn't meant as a moany post, but i feel that some of us irish supporters are getting a little carried away...It's all well and good being able to win games like that but you need guys who can create line breaks if we are truly going to challenge for the WC..Remember england played a tight game in 2003 but they still had the likes of jason Robinson at Full back who could split defences open from anywhere

Jason Eaton and Julien Bonnaire fight as La Rochelle claims famous win

not even close to an eye gouge..he is pushing him in the face...Seems eaton simply decided to use it as an excuse to punch...his palm is flat on eaton's face throughout..there was no atttempt to gouge or poke his eyes...

i also think there was a punch thrown before he puts his hands on eatons face..
