British and Irish Lions thump Combined Country in Newcastle

Backrow was immense again...O' Brien and Tipuric both put in huge efforts and both were also effective with ball in hand...Unless Warburton steps up his game a lot it's gonna be a real shame for him to probably keep both of these players on the bench or worse...O' Driscoll, Maitland, Murray and North were also very good on the day...Both scrumhalf and backrow are going to be very difficult decisions to make as pretty much every player in those areas is playing really good rugby

Lions fight off strong challenge from the Reds to claim third tour win

Maybe not Croft but O' Brien and Heaslip certainly..but then again at least Croft managed to get on the ball a bit and get some decent runs in...

Lions fight off strong challenge from the Reds to claim third tour win

Real shame Bowe is now out of the tour..Him and north were definite starters and both played exceptionally well games yesterday...

Unfortunately Warburton and the entire backrow were pretty much anonymous for the entire match...Warburton also missed a crucial tackle which would have stopped the reds first try..Heaslip, o brien and Croft were all much better and more involved than those who played yesterday (albeit against much lesser opposition) but I really can't see Sam being left out even if there are better players there..or at least players playing better right now..

Lions prop Cian Healy cleared of biting scrumhalf Brett Sheehan

More likely due it probably being hammered into the squad all week about not reacting and getting lured into anything which may lead to bans etc...After the amount of press the Farrell incident got all last week I would definitely believe that to be the case..Also Healy is actually quite calm on the pitch (most of the time)..there have been times of course where he has been too "excited" i.e. the stamp on Cole, but other than that i really can't remember him in any sort of trouble or fights during a match..

Brian O'Driscoll answers the fans' call with one year contract extension

As much as I want the man to play forever, I highly doubt he will make it through another season with much game time..he was out for huge chunks of this season, basically until christmas...

Definitely one of the greatest players of all time and certainly one of irelands greatest ever sportsmen but he's going to be a sore man in his old age given how much he's been through and will likely go through again during this lions tour and next season with club and country...

Jonny Wilkinson absolutely smashed by huge Opeti Fonua

Absolute monster of a man..as usual Wilko is a man and puts his body on the line...unfortunately in this situatuon there's nothing he could've done...

Wesley Fofana scores outstanding try vs Toulouse after just 39 seconds

With Fofana and Rougerie playing so well you'd be a very brace man to bet against Clermont..Only way a team is gonna beat them in the form they're in is to starve them of possession...

Jason Robinson picks BOD as captain in starting British & Irish Lions XV

The last time Ireland played Australia, Healy won MOTM and the Irish scrum was dominant for large portions of the game

Jason Robinson picks BOD as captain in starting British & Irish Lions XV

Most bookies have stopped taking bets on lions captain and Warburton has now moved to very short odds...Not that Warburton as captain would be bad, but for the Lions I've always thought a more senior player as captain would be better...

Seems like a lot of people underestiamte Rob Kearny, as they did during the last lions tour when he ended up just losing out to Roberts for best lions player of the series...he was European Player of the year last season too..the reason he dos not seem to be involved as much this season is because teams are actively avoiding kicking the ball to him, due to how good he is..he is probably the best in the world at FB under the high ball, has a monster boot and is always reliable to set up good ball when returning kicks...

hard to argue any of Robinson's selection..Hamilton at lock is an option for me and if Best's form doesn't improve he could be under pressure at hooker too..Wouldn't be terrible having an all Welsh backrow, but can't see any way in hell you leave O' Brien out of the team..The man gets through an enormous amount of work throughout the course of a game in both attack and defence, making impact in both areas...he also has the plus of being a major cog in the backrow which dominated Aus at the WC...
