But this is an almost weekly occurrence in the game of rugby where players are given yellow cards, or even just a talking to and then a few days later they are banned for weeks/months...If the IRB are really trying to say these incidents are worth more than a yellow well then the refs clearly are not listening..And with good reason because many of the citing commissioners are getting trigger happy in my eyes..
this incident was a yellow card at most and not worth a ban..if it was a vicious swinging arm then it would be different but it's just a case of a clumsy high tackle which caused no injury to either player..

4 weeks seems very harsh in my eyes..Maybe a week or two at most..i mean if it was only worth a yellow card during the game how can it then be worth 4 weeks afterwards...

All of this SH rugby is much much superior is nonsense in my eyes...The rugby world cup is what the majority of our conclusions regarding which is superior should be taken..And for the last 3 world cups the last four has consisted of 2 NH and 2 SH teams..Generally Sh is a tad better but if you're going to mention weaker teams like Scotland and italy then you have to mention the Sh teams like Tonga and Fiji who are also almost always beaten handily by top NH teams..
France(once they sort their current mess out) and England in particular are well capable of beating any team in the world..Ireland and Wales too, just not against New Zealand it seems..(this is more of a mental thing than anything else i fear)...
As I said in general SH rugby is superior but not by that much and come the world cup we'll no doubt see at least 1 or 2 of the big 3 beaten by these "vastly inferior" NH teams and styles of play..

To be honest even if the lions do win, I think something has been taken away from it, due to the fact that Gatland has gone against what the lions should be about..that is, by and large picking the best players creating a gameplan for them..Gatland has simply chosen his Welsh favourites over guys who have played better, not only on tour but for much of the season too....
There's pretty much no reason why Youngs should be dropped from hooker..the change at 8 isn't bad considering neither has played that well on tour..Phillips at scrum half is wrong because both Youngs and Murray have shown more, especially last week and I still can't get over Phillips not trying to tackle Genia in the first test..(if his knee was so bad he couldn't sprint then there's no way he should've been on the field)..
In reality it should be BOD and Manu in the centers...maybe I'm missing something but Manu and bod have definitely been the best centers on tour in both defence and attack...before he got injured Roberts was having a mediocre season and a poor tour showing...if Gatland was set on dropping BOD then it should be Manu who took his place..
Instead, and maybe it was unintentional or sub consciously, but it's obvious that gatland has just simply gone for his safety net with the welsh boys..

agree with you except for Croft and definitely your comments on Sexton...Sexton has probably been one of the lions best players..his passing is much much better than Farrells and he knows exactly how to get the backline moving..see the first test and his pass to set up Cuthberts try..
You can't blame Sexton for the up and under tactics either considering they probably come fomer gatland himself..his kicking out of hand has been top class too..
Wouldn't mind seeing murray in at scrum half either but Youngs played very well in second test so can't argue with him being picked....Definitely agree with manu going in for davies..he will create those half gaps that BOD will be able to exploit on his shoulder with the offload..

Perhaps you're right and it's not really that I criticize them for taking the three points..As i said while watching it live I didn't even notice the opportunity I was so glad they had managed to open up their scoring..but considering they had already given up the chance for three points by going for that lineout, going for it once more would hardly have been a stretch? by the looks of it it was very likely that the Aussies would either give up another penalty or a pushover try...
Regarding the last penalty i did feel at the time that it was a very hard kick for halfpenny to take..Sure he's knocked kicks like that over before but not at the very end of perhaps one of the most gruelling matches he's played in...Sexton may not have kicked any drop goals this tour but he has it kicked plenty throughout his career so I still feel it was the wrong call..they had huge momentum and another quick penalty would have put them within range if the Aussies were to infringe again.>or they could've tried to work their way into drop goal range..

Yea I only really realised that when I rewatched the highlights but that was a huge mistake now in hindsight...they had just pulled the maul down twice and one more infraction and they'd be down to 14 for ten minutes...they might not have gotten the try but being one man down would have been hugely significant at a point in the game where the lions were actually on top...

Sloppy game but still very enjoyable..with the amount of times that the Aussies coughed the ball up around the tackle are the lions should've really been able to get a hold of some possession and close the game out..unfortunately they kept giving the ball right back and there's no team in the world that can withstand that kind of pressure without giving up a try...
Agreed the backline didn't offer as much today as previously but it seemed that was more a tactical choice by gatland..It was clear that gatland told Sexton to kickup and unders pretty much every chance he gets..to be fair, his up and unders are damn near perfect but unless you have somebody like kearny running after them they probably won't pay off nearly s much as is needed at this level..
Wouldn't be surprised to see Tuilagi and Faletau brought in to freshen things up but other than i believe it's a slight change in tactics that is needed rather than wholesale player changes...people are saying that bowe didn't offer much..Sure he didn't but neither did any of the llions back three really..BOD put an enormous effort in in defence with a lot of tackles and some excellent work at the breakdown..unfortunately he was not too great with ball in hand today...
here's hoping to another great game and a fitting finale to a great tour...

Really no big deal..So what he celebrated and taunted a bit....I think the fact that Genia didn't even care about it speaks volumes about how moany rugby fans and press are becoming...

probably will be used if the Lions do go on to win. but it was much the same for the lions in the last tour, losing Ferris in the warm up matches and then losing BOD and much of their forwards in that second test
