Mamuka Gorgodze and Yoann Maestri sent off in Toulouse vs Montpellier battle

Look at it this way men...

By today's standards and from what I've seen over last two years Johnny Wilkonson's tackle, probably his most famous tackle of all time and one featured on pretty much every tackle compilation anybody makes would have been yellow/red card and ban worthy...

I used to support the bans being brought in for actual spear tackles say Umaga on BOD, or any other incicdent where a player is actually driven head first into the ground..But the penalty given against Ferris against Wales in this year six nations is just one example of how it is ruining the game..Another is Warburton getting a red card for a tackle that was no more dangerous than any standard tackle...

I'm all for yellows and reds and bans for guys who legitimately go out to drive a guy head first vertically (or almost so) into the ground, or eye gougers or men like Goorgodze here throwing cheap shots, but a guy coming down just marginally past the horizontal is no more dangerous than a standard hit and I have yet to have seen anybody seriously injured by a hit like Warburtons on Clerc...

Mamuka Gorgodze and Yoann Maestri sent off in Toulouse vs Montpellier battle

Gorgodze started/escalated all of that and as a result he is the only one who should have been punished...red card deserved for the cheap shots (clear punches to the face while the player was being held by another)...

IRB will probably and wrongfully ban both players though

Tai Tuifua's dangerous flying tackle on Nicky Robinson

Looks like a lot of fuss about nothing to me...High tackle, should have been a penalty and at the very worst a yellow card..Definitely not a red and definitely not ban worthy...He tries to get his arms around but because he hits him high the player falls too quickly..

IRB really needs to sort out the mess that is tackling...They really need to firstly decide upon a set of rules that, all international teams(or their boards) agree upon, and secondly clarify what the new rules are..At the moment the refs don't seem to know what to do and everything and anything is being cited...

I mean if a player only gets a yellow card or just a penalty against him, but is then cited and banned for a couple of weeks, surely that means the offence was red card worthy..If it wasnt red card worthy then why the ban and vice versa for red cards with no ban...

Jim Hamilton and David Paice shown red cards after being sin-binned

Yes and then as they're walking off he instigates it again, not only by his non stop jabbering but he also pushes the guy again...Paice deserves the bans if there are any and nothing extra for Hamilton..

Jim Hamilton and David Paice shown red cards after being sin-binned

I'm only 40 seconds in and as of right now, number 2 (paice) deserves the vast majority of the blame...He gets a little push off the ball, then as a ruck forms he goes for the guy that pushed him and begins swinging digs..Now just before I've paused it he is throwing digs with his opponents back turned..

Butch James banned for four weeks for dangerous charge against the Brumbies

Four weeks is a bit harsh...A yellow card seemed fine by me...I mean it's just a shoulder charge right?

Leinster hold out against Clermont to reach another Heineken Cup final

Im sorry but Clermont were booing and whistling throughout the match from the first penalty for Leinster to their last one...They also booed every decision that didn't go there way incl knock ons...

Barnes had a bad day, but then again Barnes always has bad days..I rarely see him have good matches...

French fans in general tend to moan a lot during matches, no matter howclear cut a penalty decision was...After thee game I'm sure they're fine, but during it you can't deny it's a different kettle of fish...

personally Clermont deserved the win yesterday.>>With 5 minutes to go Leinster were out on their feet and Fofana really should have gotten the ball down...As usual BOD was amazing in defense and kept the dangerous midfield of Clermont quiet for much of the match..>IF it weren't for him in there Clermont would have likely put up a lot more points...

Darren Cave & Johan Muller hits plus highlights of first Heineken Cup semi final

Last year Leinster were supposed to stroll through NH too and look how that turned out...

I would be very surprised if this was anything but a very close final...Ulster's defense is immense, as is Leinsters, and the missing guys coming back into the fold for Ulster it will only get better...

On another note, Stephen Ferris is an absolute warrior..The guy has been playing on a banjaxed knee since before the Lions tour basically and he still performs up there with the very best backrows in the world..He is the best defensive backrow in the world imo...
