The Flour Bomb Test - All Blacks vs Springboks 1981

Thanks RD for posting..

All of the views are interesting no matter how ill informed or odious, and indeed, many are very revealing of how rugby people see the world. I would say that I think one of the sayings of the day, that which says 'sport and politics should not mix' is in essence a good guide for a society's actions. Insofar as a sporting occasion should never take place where politically the reasons for it taking place are wrong. No room for hypocrisy and no double standard.

NB There are some wildly inaccurate views expressed above regarding the genetic makeup of the people of the island of Ireland. Perhaps a visit to a library or a day taken off to study on the internet, based on the complex history of that part of the world spanning the last 800 years, would allow some of the contributors to validate their opinions less offensively.

Manu Tuilagi tip-tackle citing dismissed ahead of South Africa tour

Actually Tana is right Patrick! It aint tiddlywinks... In tiddlywinks any of the players can send any of the opposition cartwheeling through the air with no censure whatsoever. As us humans need to go to work or school or need the use of our spines and legs and stuff, we have a couple of rules in rugby (the best game on the planet) that allow us to keep this game going generation after healthy generation. Maybe straight red cards for spears and tips, along with lesser bans might be fairer, as they are rarely 'dirty play' by 'dirty players'? It all tends to come down to luck a lot of the time. Or even a 'tackle TMO'?

Paul Williams red card for strike on Heinrich Brussow

When Brussow had the hissy against Martyn Williams on the Lions tour we all knew he was what he is immediately. This is even worse this time (it's not a proper strike lads-the dive confirms it), and keep an eye out for him because sometime in the future, he's gonna do it again...

How do I know? Coz he keeps getting away with it, and his hot little head can't help himself! A fantastic world class player who I wouldn't pick on my team in a million dignified years...
