Friday Funnies - Referee JP Doyle gets hit in the face by the ball

Referee JP Doyle had his earpiece knocked out last weekend as Gloucester met Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership. Doyle found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as a kick ahead pinged him directly on the side of the head, providing an amusing moment for the commentators. MORE »

Sam Egerton banned after being red carded for eye rake in Varsity Match

Last week Sam Egerton became the first player to ever be red carded in the annual Varsity Match between Oxford University and Cambridge University. Egerton, who starred in last year's game, has been suspended for 15 weeks following a RFU disciplinary hearing. MORE »

Midweek Madness - Rhys Patchell's 62m penalty kick vs Glasgow Warriors

Cardiff Blues back Rhys Patchell kicked a mammoth 62m penalty against Glasgow Warriors at the weekend as the Welsh side won 9-7 at Scotstoun. While they had Leigh Halfpenny to kick two penalties, it was the 20-year-old's effort from his side of the ten meter line that impressed the most. MORE »

New Zealand won all three big awards for 2013 as Kieran Read was named IRB Player of the Year, the All Blacks named Team of the Year, and coach Steve Hansen named Coach of the Year. The Barbarians sweep aside Fiji in entertaining fixture at Twickenham

The Barbarians turned it on at Twickenham, scoring seven tries including two a piece for Bismarck Du Plessis and Jean De Villiers, as they beat Fiji 43-19. It was one of the more enjoyable Baa Baas fixtures of late, with some great tries scored by both teams. MORE »
