Harlequins 2015/16 Aviva Premiership fixtures announced

The Aviva Premiership fixture list has been released today with the TV picks also confirmed for the first round. You can view the full fixtures list on the next page of this post.

Due to the Rugby World Cup the start of the Premiership season has been delayed till October which will run simultaneously with the quarter-finals of the international tournament. Due to the quarter-finals both being played at Twickenham, Harlequins will start their 2015/16 season against Wasps at home on Friday 16th October.

Harlequins Director of Rugby Conor O’Shea has commented on the fixtures stating ‘We had an incredibly frustrating season last year and we are just focused on getting our best team on the pitch, fit and raring to go’. Moreover he said that ‘We intend to right that wrong next season and get back up the table, and that starts in the first game as we want to win this thing’.

Talking about the first fixture against Wasps, O’Shea has stated that ‘our first game, against Wasps, will be a big challenge but a really exciting one. Wasps will be very confident having finished sixth last year, and that rivalry between us will always be there because of the history – regardless of whether or not it is still a local derby.

With the signings of players such as Jamie Roberts, Adam Jones and Tim Visser, Harlequins will be looking to push for a title challenge this season and O’Shea agrees announcing that ‘anyone who tries to write us off to win the title this season is very foolish’.
