World number seven ranked Scotland are rightly regarded as one of the preeminent teams in World Rugby.
Currently just a step behind the top four sides South Africa, Ireland, New Zealand and France in terms of consistency, Gregor Townsend’s side are arguably the top side amongst the chasing pack of England, Argentina and Italy.
Yet, despite rising up to as high as 5th of on the World Rankings and having won the past four Calcutta Cup contests, the men from the North have one of the most obscure records in World Rugby.
Playing their home matches at their famed fortress Murrayfield, the Scots have claimed many memorable victories over the years, namely their recent successes against England.
Beating just about every team in the world at one point or another in Edinburgh, Scotland, have had some great days at the venue.
Victory over one team has eluded them however with the men in blue yet to record a victory over the men in black with their record against New Zealand reading as 32 matches played, 30 won by New Zealand and two draws.
Making this stat even more glaring is that 20 of these clashes have been played in Scotland with 19 taking place at Murrayfield.
This record was highlighted in the All Blacks recent victories over Argentina at Eden Park in Auckland when Scott Robertson’s side recorded a 50th unbeaten outing at the famous ground.
Showing a graphic of the five longest winning streaks at a venue, the All Blacks’ record at the home of Scottish Rugby was joint fifth with Ireland’s home run at the Aviva Stadium on nineteen wins.
Unfortunately for Scotland, they will not have a chance to end this streak in 2024 with the All Blacks not travelling to Edinburgh in November.
