As is often the way when Los Pumas and the Springboks the game has been full of fire and passion.

Starting from the opening play of the game, the physical tone for the game was set as Juan Cruz Mallia clattered into Springbok scrumhalf Grant Williams.

In a near identical incident to the 2016 impact between CJ Stander and Pat Lambie in the Ireland vs Springboks series, Williams was forced off the field.

Unlike that incident however, Mallia was not shown a card as referee Andrew Brace and his match officials team decided the incident was “completely unavoidable”.

The match was Williams first start in the Springbok colours but he has since been replaced by veteran incumbent Faf de Klerk.
