Munster centre Antoine Frisch has laid his cards on the table of where he sees his international career.
Born in 50 kilometers outside of Paris in Fontainebleau, Frisch has confirmed that it is intention to play for France.
This comes after Frisch featured on the Emerging Ireland tour of South Africa in 2022.
The 27-year-old who went to Loughborough University in England is eligible for France, Ireland and England and initially joined the URC Champions Munster as an Irish qualified player.
Should he go on to receive a cap for France it would likely bring an end to his time with Munster given New Zealand’s Alex Nankivell presence in the squad.
Speaking about his ambitions, Frisch said to French publication L’Equipe, “I have been in contact with Fabien Galthié for a long time and this contact has never been interrupted.
“From the moment I was called into the France group, it became very clear to me. I want to play for France.
“It’s where I grew up, I had a Les Bleus poster on the walls of my room as a child.”
The news comes as a blow to Munster who were recently forced to move on double World Cup winner RG Snyman given Jean Kleyn’s deflection from Ireland to the Springboks.
Frisch’s potential departure would likely see his position be filled by former Exeter Chiefs player Sean O’Brien who has played most of his rugby for Munster on the wing.
