Argentina have named their former star flyhalf/centre Felipe Contepomi as their next head coach.
The former Pumas star spent the bulk of his playing career with Irish province Leinster, which was followed by spells at Toulon and Stade Francais.
Contepomi would return to Dublin as the Leinster backs coach before departing to join Michael Cheika’s staff as an assistant coach.
Now succeeding Cheika as head coach, the 46-year-old will lead Los Pumas into the future following their fourth place finish at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
As a player, Contepomi featured heavily for Cheika’s Leinster teams and helped the Irish province lift their first Heineken Cup in 2009.
On the international stage, Contepomi was a key member of the 2007 Argentinean team that shocked France in the opening match before ultimately going on to a third-place finish.
