England captain Owen Farrell faces an anxious wait to hear his fate following a red card offence during England’s 19 – 17 win over Wales on Saturday.
Having lost the opening match of the two-game series, England were desperate to get back to winning ways ahead of their trip to Dublin this weekend.
This desperation would lead to ill-discipline as the Red Roses found themselves on the wrong side of referee Nika Amashukeli’s whistle.
The Georgian referee’s frustration with England’s ill-discipline was evident as Steve Borthwick’s side found themselves down to 12 men at one point as fullback Freddie Steward, prop Ellis Genge and Farrell were all sent to the sin bin.

Whilst both Steward and Genge would return to the pitch, Farrell would not, as his initial yellow card offence was upgraded to a red.
Farrell’s hit on Welsh backrow Taine Basham was adjudged to have not only made head contact but shown no attempt to wrap the arms.
Of course, several online were quick to point out that this was not the first time Farrell was involved with a tackle of this nature.
Referring back to previous incidents, namely Farrell’s hit on Springbok centre Andrew Esterhuizen in 2018.
This hit would lead to then Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus releasing a video seemingly poking fun at the ruling of no penalty against Farrell.
The wait to learn his fate would then begin, with any suspension likely to affect his Rugby World Cup campaign.
As Farrell waits to hear his fate, the social media army did not wait to produce a wave of memes namely centred around Farrell’s time at “tackle school”.
