Chiefs have progressed through to the semi finals of the Super Rugby Pacific playoffs after a dominant display FMG Stadium Waikato today against a Queensland Reds side devoid of ideas and energy.
From just the fifth minute of the game the Chiefs took the lead, never relinquishing control as the home side built up a 31 – 0 lead, consisting of four tries and one penalty goal, before half time.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Reds side come charging out of the blocks as Tate Mcdermott touched down for two early tries to give his side a foothold in the match.

As the match approached the final 20 minutes, it was either going to be a Chiefs runaway, or the start of a magical Reds comeback. The result was quickly chosen after Hunter Paisami of the Reds received a yellow card, and substitute Bradley Slater went over for Chiefs fifth and final try of the day.
Final result: Chiefs 43 – 21 Reds
