Every once in a while there’s always a debate as to who the greatest rugby player of all time was..rarely with a single unanimous answer. Some might say any, or all of Jonah Lomu, Dan Carter, Gareth Edwards, Jonny Wilkinson or maybe even Richie McCaw as a list of a few of the possible answers.

You could put together decent videos of Smith, Faf, Du Preez, Joost.

But the reality is they’d all struggle to get past being five minutes long.

And Dupont’s only 25.

And oftentimes there is always a debate as to who the best current rugby player is. At a point in time, often there are multiple options. There was a long debate over who was better in their prime, Carter or Wilkinson. There still is never a straightforward answer.

However, currently Antoine Dupont is arguably the best rugby player on the planet right now. He is DEFINITELY the best scrum half on current form.

I was thinking the other day after watching him play for Toulouse, who was the last player who was so clearly the best in the world?

I’m sure you and others could think of some but I can’t think of many in my lifetime who’ve had such an influence on games of the highest standard

His Rugby CV looks pretty good too. He won the double of the Top 14 and the Champions Cup titles last year, along with player of the year. He’s also captained France to a Six Nations Grand Slam, their first in 12 years. Remember, Antoine Dupont is only 25 years of age!
