WATCH: Rugby fans shocked as ref mic picks up Dupont speaking English

Fans were shocked to hear Antoine Dupont speaking English picked up on the ref mic.

Antoine Dupont, the captain of the French grand slam winning side is known for not being able to speak English. Antoine Dupont has been one of the best players in World Rugby arguably over the past 2 years. His list of accolades is impressive. Last year he played a pivotal role in Toulouse’s double, winning both the Top14 and the Champions Cup. He scooped World Rugby player of the year for 2021 and now can add Grand Slam captain to his rugby CV. Dupont came away with the player of the match award in the final game of the championship as France beat England 25 points to 13.

Dupont has been nominated alongside fellow Frenchman Gregory Aldritt and Irish backrower Josh van der Flier for player of the 2022 Six Nations Championship. Following France’s win over Scotland, Dupont it seemed was unable to understand the interview and would not reply in English.
