France lock forward Paul Willemse has been suspended for two weeks following his red card in the Six Nations match with Wales at the weekend.
Willemse was sent off in the 69th minute of France’s 32-30 win over Wales in Paris after making contact with Wyn Jones’ eye.
A three-person disciplinary panel ruled that he must serve a two-week ban, ruling him out of this weekend’s Six Nations match with Scotland, after Willemse admitted to committing an act of foul play.
The suspension was reduced from the mandatory four weeks after the panel took into consideration Willemse’s guilty plea and remorse and that there was no evidence of injury.
Willemse, who can appeal the decision, is also ruled out of Montpellier’s Challenge Cup tie with Glasgow and is free to play again from April 5.
