South Pacific powerhouses Fiji and Samoa did battle this morning in the Pacific Nations Cup.
Played in Apia Samoa, the match saw the usual island physicality and pace with some of the game’s best players involved.
Fiji would keep their undefeated start to 2023 going as they emerged victorious 33 – 19 adding further momentum to their challenge in the very open looking Pool C.
Clearly in the ascendancy from the off, the flying Fijians raced out to a 30 – 5 lead with Christian Leali’ifano scoring Samoa’s only points.
Samoa would win the second half, but it would not be enough to get the victory leaving them with one win and one loss to start the season.
There was one moment that briefly distracted the eagle eyed fans as a pitch invader was seen hovering behind the Fijian backfield cover.
A rather excited looking Dog found their way onto the pitch in a streaking moment that all rugby fans could get behind.
