Bakkies Botha not too concerned about horrible fractured finger

This is a quick look at what happened to lock Bakkies Botha in last weekend’s 32-23 Toulon victory over Racing Metro in the Top 14. Botha, renowned as one of the toughest men in world rugby, had to leave the field with a horribly fractured, and clearly bent, finger. He didn’t look too bothered.

According to a recent Daily Telegraph report, despite being in his final season of rugby, Botha is currently ninth on the list of the highest paid players in the world, earning £389 000 per year.

Perhaps hardly grimacing or even acknowledging seething pain is in his contract.

True. When he signed up there he was in the top 3 highest paid, if not top.

+ pressure and frustration is easier to exorcise on the rugby pitch. Find a ribcage, aim shoulder, BANG (and maybe wrap your arms). Why do you think footballers get caught with prostitutes and massive gambling debts? Give them a full contact drill once a week instead, it will sort their stress right out.

That Telegraph list is suspect. No Japan-based players made the cut? Jaque Fourie is supposed to be on $850k, which would make him top-5.

And Botha's earning that sort of money for 2-3 years of his career. Rooney is earning his wads, let's call it 1m per month before endorsements, for probably 10-15 years.

Wayne Rooney makes almost that much in one week. And that's just from Man Utd, not including any sponsorship and endorsement deals. He'll have earnt a tenner just in the time it takes you to read this post. (http://ampp3d.mirror.co.uk/2014/02/21/wayne-rooney-earnings/)

That looks pretty damn gross, I don't think mine was as bad (although I also had ligament damage), only thing I can say was that it didn't hurt at all...just the angle was perhaps a bit inconvenient... made me feel a bit light headed looking at it going the wrong way but as for pain, there really was none... Had time for a quick post match drink, then took a trip to the hospital to get it sorted... Not sure whether anyone else has any damaged finger/toe stories and whether it hurt?
