Brutal covering hit from New Zealand schoolboys rugby game

This brutal tackle comes from a recent New Zealand schools rugby game between Wanganui Collegiate and St. Pauls Collegiate. It’s been doing the rounds so if you haven’t seen it yet, get ready to squirm in your seat.

St. Paul’s Kip Fawcett made a great run as he split the defence in two then offloaded for a try-scoring pass. Unfortuntely in the process Ruslan Casey lined him up and smashed him.

It might be considered a late tackle but Casey seemed fully committed to it, with the hit producing a crunching (cracking?) sound that was heard around the ground, and brilliantly captured on camera.

Fawcett, who created the try from first phase possession from a scrum, got up somehow although he did look a fair bit shaken, but that’s to be understood after one of the biggest hits of the season.

Mate, I'm not saying all Kiwi's or Maori's are cannibals, I'm talking about history. Spelling aside: "grown-ups must be cannibals. Oh yes mauris were!" with WERE being the central word in the argument. Embrace the heritage...Obviously hasn't done any of today's Maori's any harm... in fact looking at their playing, it could be argued they're "possessed" when they play!

....hardly... Antiquated would be right, but racist? Well documented accounts of Maori's and cannibalism, so hardly racist... Although the fact this was a pasty ginger kid, I'd agree again with the dumb part... But he does make a point..massive tackles like this as kids, no wonder the big boys are immense!

Antiquated, a bit racist and dumb irishcal. Great commitment, showed that a big tackle can be made legally and WRAP!

He clearly attempted to wrap and succeeded... no need for any punishment... ;)

I'm trying to see where the tackler starts off, is he the left wing? I thought maybe one of the back row but then he seems to deep as he runs across to have come from the scrum... I forgot to say it was a great run by the fly half, really did well, shameful tackling (or lack of) by the other players in white.

Ouch !!! Awesome hit ! Too bad the 15 white didn't take advantage of that tackle.

I feel a little bit sick. Awesome hit, even better for the lad to get up from it. Well done to both.

Bloody hell, that was brilliant/brutal! Definitely looked committed, and totally agree with Bradders, I reckon that 10 might have been a bit discouraged from then onwards!!! ...and he was ginger!!! (does that mean extra points for a tackle like that?)

That is a fine display from both players: the tackler for obvious reasons, and the ball-carrier to make the off-load despite the missile in white hurtling towards him! Full marks to both for commitment!

Big hit. Might have been better to tackle the guy with the ball though.
