Coaches Get Into Fist Fight During MLR Clash

Major League Rugby is fast becoming a serious player in the world of professional rugby.

For years, Rugby in the United States had been calling out for a sustainable professional league for which American players could develop alongside some of the game’s biggest stars.

Now firmly established with two strong conferences of six, the MLR looks set to continue its growth.

Such are the stakes in the league, fans and teams alike are truly buying into the competition.

Two of the top sides in the league are the New York Iron Workers and the Houston Sabre Cats who met in a fiery clash over the weekend.

Houston would emerge victorious 34 – 27 but it would be a clash between two of the coaches that would have everybody talking post-match.

Going blow for blow, Houston head coach Pote Human would slap New York head of high-performance Ollie Richardson during a break in play.

From here Richardson would need to be restrained before wriggling free and punching Human.

As the scuffle settled down, the two coaches were restrained and sent back to their respective sidelines.

For the Sabre Cats who are coached by Human and former Springbok head coach Heyneke Meyer, the win keeps them in second place in the western conference.
