As the Top 14 takes a brief pause ahead of the start of the 6 Nations, Racing 92 consolidated their place at the top of table with a convincing 26-3 win over Oyonnax in Colombes.

The Parisiens easily secured the try bonus point which has arguably guaranteed their top spot until the league resumes on February 19. Among the try-scorers for the first time was All Black legend Dan Carter, who crossed for the third score of the match.

Carter has pulled the strings of a well-oiled Racing side that has surged not only to the top of the French league, but into the knock-out stages of the Champions Cup for the second year in succession.

His try against Oyonnax was one of pure class and one we definitely appreciated seeing.

As if a deft chip over the top for the on-rushing Johan Goosen wasn’t good enough, Carter’s perfect supporting line made the final pass a formality. He then showed good pace to streak in for the try.

Agreed re Racing. I will never understand Toulouse not doing everything in their power to keep Nyanga, even more so considering he joined a rival club. He played England's back row off the park when France beat England in the 2014 6N. Toulon really miss Giteau. It will be interesting to see where he plays when he returns. 1 player out of Giteau, Cooper, Nonu + Bastereaud will miss out. I think they miss Ali Williams at the lineout too, although that will improve when O'Connell is fit. Manoa is a very good player but he's not a great replacement for Williams in terms of what he offers at the lineout.

Got the feeling that Racing can win everything this year. A lot of bad choices in the past, but they slowly took their time to build something coherent. Strong and vintage pack with Ben Arous, Nyanga and Swarzweski, Carter, Machenaud and Phillips at the "baguette" Some magic legs with Imhoff, Teddy Thomas, Dulin and Rokocoko And some very promising club talents with Dupichot and Camille Chat Can't see Toulon win them without Giteau

I think that is why Carter is so good. It usually takes more than one phase to reach the try line, the ability to switch from 1st phase playmaker to support runner is like gold dust. No dramas. That back play was damn near Fijian in fluidity...

Awesome try by one of, if not the, best player of his generation. Such a shame about the pathetic behaviour of the Oyonnax player at the end. No need for it, just a poor loser.

Ha ha! Yeah, that would be good to see! Seems inconceivable though doesn't it! This is a perfect example - nothing particularly outstanding here really, if we're being honest, but the fluidity of the decision-making coupled with the accuracy of execution are literally perfect.

More brilliance from Den Cahtah. This is starting to get out of hand. Has he ever had a bad game? Or made an error? I sort of want to see him get Falcon'd... no bad intentions, but just to prove that he is human.
