Former Springboks sevens star Rosko Specman showed just why the 15-a-side game can benefit from integrating sevens players with a wonderful try assist for the Bulls.
Specman received the ball on the left wing and beat his opposite man with a chip and chase, which he gathered inside the Melbourne Rebels’ 22-metre zone.
The 30-year-old then used his sevens experience to evade the touchline and free his hands to make a perfectly timed offload to centre Burger Odendaal for the Bulls’ third try of the game.
Specman rounded off a top performance with a try of his own in the 69th minute to secure a 17-32 win in Melbourne to go top of the South African conference.
