The Magners League kicked off this weekend, and earlier today we saw Welsh side Newport Gwent Dragons get their season off to a great start with a 23-6 win over a disappointing Ulster side at Rodney Parade.
The Dragons scored three tries with Aled Brew, Richard Fussell and Ashley Smith all crossing the line, with Jason Tovey kicking a solitary conversion, and James Arlidge slotting two penalties.
Ian Humphreys replied for Ulster with all they could manage, two penalties.
After a slow start, the game livened up with a great try, finished off by Brew, but made with a superb backline move as Fussell flew in off his wing before giving it to Tom Riley, who then offloaded to his big winger.
Interestingly, there was controversy in the scrum department as Italian referee Carlo Damasco sent off both Dragons loose-head pro Ali McKenzie, and Ulster tight-head BJ Botha following the front rows going down repeatedly.
It was an easy win in the end for the Dragons, which means that they now top the table after round 1 of the competition.
