It’s time for another extended wrap-up from the ITM Cup, with a 20 minute package showing every try that was scored in Round 6, including the much talked about Sonny Bill Williams debut.
Round 7 has already started, so this will just be a quick wrap-up of the results, as well as the highlights for you to take a look at, starting with Counties Manukau as they beat Tasman 23-3 in Pukekohe.
The Sonny Bill Williams show then came to town as Canterbury beat Bay Of Plenty 28-9, with Williams making a solid, if unspectacular, debut off the bench. He showed touches of class at times though, and will start for Canterbury this weekend.
Manawatu sprung the upset of the weekend as they beat the Wellington Lions 36-24, while Southland’s winning streak came to an end with a 33-22 loss to Northland. Rene Ranger and Jared Payne combined twice for two excellent tries.
Waikato continued to impress as they beat North Harbour 36-27 in an action packed game in Albany, while at Eden Park Auckland picked up a hard-fought 27-13 win over Taranaki. Finally, on Sunday at Carisbrook Otaga got their first win of the season as they beat Hawkes Bay 17-16.
