Despite an early start to the Currie Cup, Western Province have now lost two on the trot, first to the Sharks, and then this past weekend going down 29-24 to the Cheetahs. It was a good win for the visitors, with this try being the best from the match at Newlands in Cape Town.
This week there wont be a best tries mix from the Currie Cup as in all honesty, there werent that many amazing tries scored. I figured this was the best from this particular match though, as it had some wonderful handling and support play from all the guys involved.
The Cheetahs put pressure on WP all night with their rush defence, and as you can see here, the policy of staying in their faces reaped rewards.
“It was special, especially because it was at Newlands,” said coach Naka Drotske.
“Weve lost matches this season this season that we could have won so Im very glad were pulled this one through. Discipline was important, and it was something we knew because they have a kicker like Willem de Waal.”
A Frikkie Welsh fumble allowed Sevens star Robert Ebersohn to draw in a couple of tacklers and free up Meyer Bosman, who combined nicely with Kabamba Floors (pictured above) before the support arrived, eventually allowing rapid winger Jongi Nokwe to stroll over for a neatly taken try.
