Richard Bands headclash with Richie McCaw

A few minutes into the 2005 Super 12 match between the Bulls and the Crusaders in Pretoria the Bulls are awarded a free kick for a Crusaders indiscretion. Richard Bands takes off at the Crusaders forward pack and meets Richie McCaw head on, literally. With a header that Peter Crouch would be proud of he connects with the All Black and Crusaders captain and knocks him out cold.

Purely accidental of course, but the collision ends up ending the game for McCaw who’s lights out from the moment of impact. Luckily he wasn’t seriously injured and was able to play again in the tournament.

As for Richard Bands, he probably felt a slight tickling sensation.
