Super 14 Pick of the Week - Round 4

Whether it was quick ball or quick thinking, the teams who kept the defence on their heels are those who prevailed in Round 4 of the Super 14. Adjustments to new law applications seem to have been made, as there’s plenty of running rugby on show in Pick of the week.

The Waratahs pulled off a hard-fought win over the Sharks in Sydney, though not entirely without

controversy

. Centre Tom Carter sliced through a gap almost untouched. Moments later, Tatafu Polata-Nau did the same with Stefan Terblanche not being able to do much about it.

The Brumbies, Stormers and the Hurricanes also show us what quick recycling of the ball can do. The handling skills of Brumbies hooker Stephen Moore are worth a mention, as are some quick-hands and well-timed offloads from the Stormers.

The deadly Chiefs back three of Sitiveni Sivivatu, Lelia Masaga, and Mils Muliana feature in an incisive counter-attack that would later end in a try on the opposite wing. A different looking trio of Hennie Daniller, Jongi Nokwe and Kabama floors also combine to attack from deep.

As always, one must expect the unexpected on the rugby pitch. There no better reminders of this than Kankowski’s breakaway interception and Luke Morahan’s outstanding chase for a try for the Reds.

Theres always room for a touch of class and we see that in the form of a Daniel Carter line-break and a beautifully delayed pass from Quade Cooper.

There was plenty of involvement from other notable stars, namely a very a fit looking Muliana, a Schalk Burger who passes the ball and a Rocky Elsom-Stephen Hoiles back row combination for the men from ACT. Enjoy the tries.
